Update: this security restriction is causing problems with file access. I am currently investigating. I think the "java" executable needs to be given file access privileges.
I have released the first version of a new Shogi GUI called "Shogi Explorer". My aim is to provide a tool for new Shogi players to analyse Shogi game records, downloaded from popular sites like http://www.81dojo.com/, using one of the many excellent Shogi engines and learn from their mistakes. In the future I plan to add features to allow such players to develop opening repertoires to use against their opponents. Human vs engine play is planned as well.
This first release is for macOS only. Windows and Linux versions will be available soon. It requires Java 11 runtimes to be installed prior to use. I recommend the version freely downloadable from https://adoptium.net/. You will also need a Shogi engine for analysis. I will create a new blog post with information about how to obtain Shogi engines for macOS in the near future.
